Just Be A Blessing

S. O. A. P.

Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

Philemon 1:7

Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.

O-bservation:

Philemon was a friend of Paul’s, and Paul was writing him concerning another issue. But before Paul addressed the issue he told Philemon that his love and encouragement had been a great blessing to him because Philemon had refreshed the hearts of the people where he lived. Earlier we find that Philemon had opened his house so that the church would have a place to meet.

A-pplication:

As I read this passage concerning Philemon, I feel like I heard the Lord say, “Rich … Just Be A Blessing.” Philemon got his name written in the Bible because Paul had a need that Philemon could meet. Paul would never have asked for help from Philemon if he weren’t in the business of “Being A Blessing.” He was the guy who always went the “Extra Mile.” He did a little more, gave a little more, and stayed a little longer. You know THAT guy. That was Philemon. One day he may have heard Jesus say what I just heard, “Philemon … Just Be A Blessing!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

At this point in my life I’m not convinced that I’ll ever change “The World.” But I am convinced I can still change “My World” … by just being a blessing. Amen
