Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 119:154
Defend my cause and redeem me; preserve my life according to your promise.
O-bservation:
King David, who was perhaps the greatest earthly King to ever rule and reign, understood where his strength came from. In this short, two-line sentence, David asked God his Heavenly Father to be his DEFENDER. The king realized that without The Lord’s continual help, he (David) had no way of continuing a great legacy.
A-pplication:
At the end of the day, all of us are dependent on our own abilities to make it through this thing called “LIFE,” or we’re DEPENDING on The Lord. Jesus has offered to be with us at all times. In fact, when He left this earth He sent the Holy Spirit to give us power and encouragement to carry on the task of promoting the “Good News” everywhere. Not only that, Scripture tells us that Jesus is our “Intercessor” before the Father in heaven. Other words that coincide with intercessor would be representative, lawyer, or “DEFENDER.” Why do we need a DEFENDER in heaven? The Bible tells us that the enemy of our souls, satan, stands at the throne of God each day accusing us! (Rev. 12:10) Thank God we have someone standing up for us as our own personal representative before the Father. No wonder David asked God to be His DEFENDER. The next time you feel the enemy accusing you, don’t forget to call on … “Jesus Our Defender.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I thank You this AM that You are many things to me, but I’m so blessed to know that You are the One who stands before the Father in Heaven and DEFENDS my case. Amen
