It’s Never Over In This Life

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Luke 4:13

When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.

This short passage follows the Devil’s temptation of Jesus in the wilderness. Jesus has not failed in this temptation attempt, but Luke tells us that the devil left Him (Jesus) until a more opportune time. In other words, there would be many more temptations by the enemy on Jesus. Because when it comes to Satan and his temptations, “It’s Never Over In This Life.”

Never underestimate the resiliency of satan’s temptations. We can defeat him ten times in a row, but he won’t quit until we have won and are home in heaven. He never gives up. He attacked Jesus on another occasion through Jesus’ dearest friend Peter. Jesus literally had to look at Peter and say, “Get behind me Satan!” (Mt. 16:23). Then the enemy tempted Him again in the garden before His crucifixion. Jesus prayed, “not my will but thine be done.” The Bible then says, “An angel of the Lord appeared to him and strengthened him!” (Luke 22:42-43). The truth in this post is simply that when it comes to the devil continually tempting us, “It’s Never Over In This Life.” That’s why today we must remember the instruction of Peter, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8). But let me remind you, Jesus also said, “Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4).

Dear Jesus,

I’m blessed today to know that You are with me in this continual battle with the evil one. Because I know that “It’s Never Over In This Life,” I will continue to fight the good fight of faith with Your help! Amen
