Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
Philippians 1:18b
The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.
O-bservation:
One of the challenges the church in Philippi was facing was that of ministers of the Gospel showing up to preach who weren’t connected to the same spiritual DNA Paul had preached. Some of them had bad motives for preaching Jesus, for their own selfish gain. Great questions had arisen over this issue. Paul said, “The thing that is important is that Jesus is being preached. I’ll let God be the judge of their motives, but in the meantime … I’m Gonna Rejoice Anyway.”
A-pplication:
If we’re not careful, we can get caught up in being God’s policemen and women. This is not one of the “Gifts Of The Spirit.” We have been called to go everywhere and promote the “Good News” of Jesus. Jesus is more than capable of bringing correction to those who have lousy motives. Remember, when Jesus is being lifted up (no matter who the delivery people are) He will draw people to Himself. So instead of being worried that someone may be a “flake” … Just keep doing your job and decide … “I’m Gonna Rejoice Anyway.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I don’t want to be the judge. That’s Your business. My calling is to lift You up and keep on rejoicing. With Your help, I’ll do just that! Amen
