S. O. A. P.
Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
Ephesians 5:10
And find out what pleases the Lord.
O-bservation:
The first nine verses of this chapter, the “Great Apostle” reminds the “Followers of Jesus” in Ephesus what they should do and what they shouldn’t do. And then he says, “And find out what pleases the Lord.”
A-pplication:
My dad used to say, “We aim to please.” In other words, if I have a choice to please you rather than exasperate you, I will choose to please you. In order to do that, it’s on me to “find out” what pleases you. Often, I run into “Professing Christians” who are doing anything but finding out what pleases God. Some live as close to their former life “before Christ” as possible. I’ve heard it called “Riding The Fence.” One foot is on the dock and one foot is in the boat. And a half-hearted service unto the Lord is what John the Beloved saw in the Book of the Revelation. John called it being lukewarm. So it’s really on each one of us to … “Find Out What Pleases the Lord!” Once we find out what pleases the Lord, now we can begin to do our part in pleasing Him. Today, make it a point to not make it about you. Instead let’s … “Find out what pleases God.” Then we can begin to do our part in pleasing Him.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I AIM To Please. After these many years of following You, I know what You want me to do. Because I have … “Found Out What Pleases You!” Amen
