You Are Hovered Over

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Isaiah 40:13

Who can fathom the Spirit of the Lord, or instruct the Lord as his counselor?

O-bservation:

In this verse, Isaiah sounds like the cross examiner in a court of law. He asks Israel, and all of us today, “Who can begin to understand the Spirit of God and who has ever been asked to be God’s lawyer?”

A-pplication:

Perhaps the great Prophet Isaiah was thinking of the opening lines of Genesis, where Moses says, “The earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters” (Gen. 1:2). However you wish to interpret this verse, it’s imperative that we, as “Followers of Jesus,” elevate our level of appreciation for our God. He’s massive! The Holy Spirit of God is absolutely fathomless! Our God needs no legal counsel or sound advice from anyone, ever. Today I am reminded of the absurdity of man trying to fathom God Almighty. If you take all of the land from the Globe and leave only water encompassing the earth, that’s where the “Spirit of God” hovered. He hovered over every square inch of it before time, as we know it, began! It is absolutely inconceivable that we could possibly try and understand that! God is great. He’s awesome. He’s mighty. He’s HUGE! Now … let’s talk about your big problem and mine. Where is God? He’s hovering over each one of us, like He used to hover over the darkness of the planet before it all began. He’s got you covered right now. “You Are Hovered Over!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Forgive me this AM. I, your small peanut of a son, am guilty of trying to figure You out one more time. Because You came to the earth as a man, I have a tendency to forget that You left Your incomprehensible greatness to help us all. But I must remember that You have ascended once more to Hover over all of us. Amen

I have been praying lately, every day, for God’s presence to be in me. I realize how ambitious this request is, as a magnificent great big God can be in something so small as my heart. I may not comprehend it but I know that Jesus lives in me. Glory to His Holy name!
