Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Timothy 4:12

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

O-bservation:

As “Followers of Jesus,” St. Paul writes that we are to set an example for others in 5 categories. They are: Speech, Conduct, Love, Faith, and Purity.

A-pplication:

The Apostle is not suggesting that we should try to set an example, he’s directing us to set an example. I don’t think he wants any of us to operate in a legalistic, religious way, but instead in a holy way. Say good stuff. Don’t act out in a stupid way. Make choices that are rooted in love. Be the positive voice for others that you want others to be for you. Live a moral life that is honorable as a Jesus Follower. These Biblical Principles are actually directed to the young. The Great Apostle believed those who have been seasoned with age already know these principles. Since I’m part of the “SEASONED with Years Team,” my prayer is “Lord, Help Me Be An Example!”
