Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
1 Peter 1:22
Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.
As something of an afterthought, St. Peter says to all of us that after we have been purified by obeying the truth we’re to love one another. In fact, we are to love one another deeply, “From the Heart.”
Jesus original statement about truth holds sway here. Jesus said, “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). Because of God’s Grace, we are free once we’ve experienced His truth. We’re free from past bondages of hatred, bitterness, and strife. Once this occurs in a person’s heart, they are now free to love others … “From the Heart.” Heart love is compelling love. Heart love pulls others toward you. Heart love is not motivated by any other intention than to seek and will the highest good of the person for which it is intended. We tell our Bible scholars here in Miami to preach … “From the Heart.” When they do, their theology is promoted from a “Heart of Compassion” rather than from a “Head of Arrogance.” You and I have been set free by God’s truth. Let us then love others … “From the Heart.”
Because You loved me from YOUR heart I have eternal life. This AM I want to love others from MY heart in hopes that they too may have eternal life. Amen
