Habits Linger

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Lamentations 3:27

It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young.

O-bservation:

Jeremiah the Prophet wrote this book as he watched his beloved Zion fall and be carried away at the hands of the Babylonians. In the midst of his tears, he laments the disobedience of Israel and then makes some general observations concerning life. Here he says, “Hard work is better for a man to learn when he is young because … ‘Habits Linger!’”

A-pplication:

Every successful person in this world came by way of hard work. I’m not talking about those who are living off of their forefathers’ wealth. I’m talking about SUCCESS. Real success is measured by ingenuity, hard work, perseverance, consistency, paying your bills, and having a family that loves you. In some cases, those ideals will turn you into a millionaire. Usually those ideals just assure you lots of grandchildren around the Christmas tree during the holidays at the end of your life. But it all starts in one’s youth. As a little boy or girl, who taught you to WORK and what did you OBSERVE as a child? The truth is … “Habits Linger.” If you learned slothfulness as a child, that habit usually lingers late into life, unfortunately. On the other hand, if you learned as Jeremiah put it “To bear the yoke as a child,” I can imagine you will be having quite a Christmas this year!

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM I’m reminded of my dear Father and Mother who taught me as a young boy to do what I didn’t want to do … “WORK!” But, what I didn’t like as a Boy I’ve learned to love as a Man. Thank you again and I can’t wait for Christmas! Amen
