God’s Power

S. O. A. P.

Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Corinthians 2:5

So that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.

O-bservation:

In the few verses leading up to today’s text, the Great Apostle told the young church at Corinth that he came to them in fear and trembling and with a demonstration of the “Power of God.” He did not want this congregation or any other church congregation in the future to ever base their faith on man’s hipness or persuasive speech or human wisdom. Rather, Paul wanted every “Follower of Jesus” to base their faith on the “Power of God.”

A-pplication:

I could take a long time right here and discuss the latest church fads that seem so compelling. Or what the biggest leaders in the church are saying, singing, or wearing. We could even discuss the different theological camps that are out there. And if you’re not “IN” the right one you’re “OUT!” But I didn’t sign up for JESUS based upon any of those things. I signed up because of “God’s Power!” He is the ONLY true and wise God. He is all-powerful, all knowing and all everywhere at the same time. I chose JESUS because He is the maker of ALL things. I figure if He can MAKE all things He can surely FIX all things as well. I’m not interested in which person or team or church is more powerful than the next. Because if that’s what it’s all about, in time each one of those institutions will lose and someone else will be lauded as powerful. NO. The power I care about is just one … “God’s Power!” I promise … His Power will get you through.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Thank You that You posses ALL Power in heaven and earth. And by Your power You Saved me and You keep me! Amen
