S. O. A. P.
Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 6:1
Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath.
O-bservation:
King David had failed God in some way and he implored the Lord to calm down before disciplining him. Evidently he believed that God responded much the same way he (David) would respond if let down in the same way.
A-pplication:
It’s important to remember that we human’s are made in the image of God. However, we are mortal—He is IMMORTAL. We are finite—He is INFINITE. We are limited—He is UNLIMITED. We have some power—He has ALL POWER. This discussion centers on “God’s Capacity.” When David asked God to calm down before He disciplined him, he was assuming that God would respond the same way he (DAVID) would respond in the same situation. But God’s Capacity when it comes to responding to our rebellion is higher than high, wider than wide, and deeper than deep. Even those words have human limitations attached to them. God is patient and long-suffering when it comes to the failure of His children. Please don’t take Him for granted, but His grace is more than sufficient to cover our failure. He won’t be “flying off the handle” in Heaven today, should you blow it.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I know that if it wasn’t for Your grace I would have been dead long ago, because of my failures at pleasing You. But You’ve always been patient with me and forgiving of me. Thank You for Your “Huge Capacity.” Amen
