Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Samuel 22:2
All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their commander. About four hundred men were with him.
O-bservation:
David had to flee the presence of King Saul for his very life. Saul had become jealous of David and tried to kill him. David first found refuge in a Philistine camp in Gath, but once again had to flee for his life. He found refuge in the cave of Adullam. When his family heard, they gathered there with him, and then four hundred men, each of whom had a problem, came to the cave to join David. And once there, they yielded to David as their commander.
A-pplication:
David was in trouble, and he was running from the King of Israel, and he was alone. But David is the one person in all of Scripture who is referred to as a man after God’s own heart. While in the cave of Adullam, God sent David just who he needed. First, his father and brothers came to be with him in the cave. His brothers were all former members of the Israeli army. Then came four hundred men, some of whom were mad at the world, others who had lost hope, and all who were in debt. But evidently, these men had followed David to the cave because he had led them into battle before. We know that from these men came David’s thirty-seven mighty men. I feel that as I write this AM, there is someone who is alone, and it may feel like you’re in a deep dark cave. I’m telling you to hold on. Help is on the way. “God Will Send You Just Who You Need.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m in need today. And I’m seeking You because I know that You, my “God, Will Send Me Just Who I Need!” Amen
