S. O. A. P.
Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
Job 5:8
But if I were you, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him.
O-bservation:
When disaster struck the life and household of Job, three of his friends came to sit with him and discuss the “Big Issues” of life. This happened after his wife had told him to “Curse God and die.” The first friend began a long diatribe of what had happened, why it had happened, and what he should do. Not all of the information that this friend presented Job was worthwhile, but this one line is true for all time … “Job if I were you, I’d give IT to the Lord.”
A-pplication:
It amazes me that so many unusual, yet documented, miracles happen on a regular basis in Third World countries among “Followers of Jesus.” Have you ever wondered about that? Maybe we here in the West don’t see as many (Total and complete … no doubt about it … It had to be The Lord’s intervention type miracles) because “The Lord” is not always the FIRST source of help we look to. Why is it that we mortal men and women (I am including myself in this question) seem to take any option but “The Lord” FIRST in a time of trouble? Perhaps it’s because we look to our own “Limited Resources” FIRST … as if they were consistently proven. In the dead center of Job’s “Massive Trouble,” his friend said — and this is what I am also encouraging YOU to do right now as well — “Give IT To The Lord!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Before I appeal to Lawyers, Doctors, CPAs, Insurance People, or Salespeople, I want to FIRST of all say … Jesus You are my first source. What will You do to take my pain away? IT’S in Your hands Lord. I am Yours! Amen
