Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 3:1
Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me!
O-bservation:
King David is not asking a question here, he is making a bold declaration. And you can’t really fault him for that. After all, his own son, Absalom, was leading an insurrection against him at the time.
A-pplication:
Regardless of how many obstacles or “FOES” come up against you, the best thing for a “Follower of Jesus” to do is let go and trust God! Some may even side with Absalom, by saying his father David had failed him miserably. But even in our failures—be they legal, moral, or ethical—the man or woman who trusts the Lord must make amends, put it behind them, and press on. It’s easy to allow present negative circumstances to coerce you into boldly declaring the negative, but in the end we all must … “Foe-Get About It!” Like King David, we must finally turn to the positive and say … “I will not fear, though tens of thousands assail me on every side!” (v. 6)
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Help me remember today that You are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head! Amen
