Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Ecclesiastes 1:2

“Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.”

O-bservation:

The “Wiseman,” King Solomon, opens his sermon book by establishing that, a thing in itself is meaningless, inasmuch as it is like a vapor or a wind, which is here this moment and gone the next.

A-pplication:

The Wiseman, in another translation, calls things or stuff VANITY. Here, we see the word translated as “Meaningless”. There’s no doubt that the Wiseman at the end of his life had tried IT ALL! He discovered that the more he sought to please himself, the more it vaporized before his eyes. Nothing absolutely nothing could satisfy, so that in the end, if you keep reading, this Wanderer returned to what he knew he’d forgotten. “Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.” (12:13b). The Wiseman knew this from the start but like so many, spent an inordinate amount of time searching the “Meaningless” side streets of life for self-gratification. It leaves me “Feeling Sorry For The Wiseman.”

You’ve kept me this far, with Your help, there’ll be no Side Streets for me. Amen
