False Worship

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Matthew 2:8

He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”

O-bservation:

These are the words of the wicked King Herod. He told the wise men that he wanted them to find where Jesus was so he could go and worship him. Seldom in history has there been a bigger lie. This lie the king told amounted to nothing more than “False Worship.”

A-pplication:

As I was meditating on this verse, I wondered if there are other forms of False Worship that good “Followers of Jesus” are challenged with. I thought about the challenge of “going through the motions” while in the house of the Lord. The look of boredom I see on some faces makes me wonder what they’re thinking. Could it be that we’re there but not really there? Is that False Worship? What about prayers at the table to impress upon our children the need to be grateful to our God? Is it possible that it’s just a ritual that in time has no meaning except we stopped for a minute to do it? Is that False Worship? You can see where this is going, because we could keep going. However, the point is, there is only one way to escape False Worship. Anything we do or say must be done HEARTILY as unto the Lord! There’s no False Worship when you’re fully engaged in your life with Jesus.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m asking for You to turn my “want to” jets on this AM. Help me be HEARTILY into worshipping You all day. Amen
