Exalted

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Joshua 4:14

That day the Lord exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they stood in awe of him all the days of his life, just as they had stood in awe of Moses.

O-bservation:

Even before Joshua and the people of Israel conquered Jericho, the Lord split the Jordon River so the people of Israel could walk across on dry ground. When this happened the Israelites were awestruck by their leader Joshua, just as they had been for Moses. It was God who had “EXALTED” Joshua among the people.

A-pplication:

We have a New Testament mandate for the idea of a man or woman being “EXALTED” by God. In 1 Peter 5:6 the Apostle says, “Humble yourselves therefor under the might hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time” (KJV). Perhaps Moses was more humble than Joshua, but probably not by much. As we examine his life as an understudy to Moses, every act seems to be an act of humility on Joshua’s part. In fact, it doesn’t even seem as though he’s trying to be humble. As he was faithful to the Lord, he was also faithful to his leader, Moses. In time, because of his consistent humbleness of heart, God “EXALTED” him. Exaltation is never the goal but certainly Humility is, for every child of God.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

With Your help again this AM, I humble myself. Amen
