Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
2 Samuel 1:14
David asked him, “Why weren’t you afraid to lift your hand to destroy the Lord’s anointed?”
O-bservation:
Several days after the death of King Saul, a young man came from Saul’s camp to report to David that he had assisted Saul with his suicide. When David heard this, he and his men tore their clothes and began weeping. He asked the young man if he had No Fear upon touching Saul (God’s Anointed) in a way that assisted in his death? And then David’s men killed the young man.
A-pplication:
The more you read the Word of God, the more you get the idea that when it comes to speaking against or doing harm to anyone God has placed in authority, it’s better to remember these two words … “Don’t Touch!” Whether it’s a person in ministry or some position of spiritual authority, it’s best to remember that they have been placed there by God and if they need to be rebuked or removed HE will handle it. If David, the new anointed King of Israel, was afraid to touch the person from whom the glory of the Lord had already departed, it’s probably good for us to determine we’re not better than him. Just … “Don’t Touch!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I know You have called me to honor those in authority over me. When someone does something that is dishonorable then help me to honor the office they hold. Amen
