Do Something

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Samuel 13:21

When King David heard all this, he was furious.

O-bservation:

King David had just heard that his son, Amnon, had raped his half sister Tamar, the full sister of Absalom. Amnon had her thrown out of his house and she was living with her brother Absalom in shame. David was furious, but DID NOTHING.

A-pplication:

Never allow injustice in your midst to go unchallenged. David knew his son Amnon had done wrong, but he did nothing in the form of discipline to rectify his sin. Later Absalom killed his brother Amnon, and Dad David still did nothing to discipline his son Absalom. The Bible says if we sow to the wind we will reap a whirlwind (Hosea 8:7). Absalom eventually rebelled against and split his father’s kingdom. In the process, David’s associate Joab killed Absalom. Whenever a disturbance breaks out in your home or mine, it isn’t God’s will that we sit back and “Do Nothing.” Certainly if we move forward and “Do Something” God will intervene in our challenge. It’s not enough to do nothing, ALL of US must “Do SOMETHING!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

With the challenges I’m faced with today, help me be proactive and not inactive when it comes to dealing with injustice around me. Amen
