Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 103:2
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits.
O-bservation:
The greatest King in Israel’s history, David, spoke to the very deepest place of his being, his soul. He commanded his soul to praise the Lord and to remember the benefits of serving Jesus.
A-pplication:
One’s soul is the root of one’s innermost feelings. Great sorrow, which results in sobs of anguish, and ultimate joy, which results in shouts of exultation, emanate from the soul. But sometimes the soul must be commanded to respond. The soul cannot be left to run wild on its own. We are challenged to take control of our soul and demand that it Praise the Lord. The reason? Well it’s because of all the personal benefits we derive from being “Followers of Jesus.” Here’s a sample of what He’s done for us: He’s given us eternal life, healed us from diseases, pulled us out of hell, and crowned us with love and compassion. He’s given us the desires of our heart. He’s given us renewed youth, even as we are aging. Those are just a few of the benefits mentioned in this famous chapter— “Psalms 103.” Today, if you’re lacking in the “Praise Department,” ask your soul … “You Didn’t Forget Did You?”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
With your help this AM, I will command my soul to praise You. I don’t ever want it to forget Your benefits. Amen
