A Great Awakening

S. O. A. P.

Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

Luke 15:17

When he came to his senses, he said, how many of my fathers hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death!

O-bservation:

The story of the “Prodigal Son” has been told around the world for several thousand years now. Most likely this story has crossed most every conceivable barrier because the story resonates in every tradition, every religion, and every family. We’ve all yielded to some kind of “Delirious Persuasion” in our life, where we needed to wake up from our “Temporary Insanity” and get back on track. This young man woke up to two things … first, he woke up to what he had given up and second he woke up to how hungry he was!

A-pplication:

SIN is really a “Temporary State of Insanity.” To SIN is to “Miss the Mark,” literally. Some people choose to live “Insane” all of their lives. It’s like driving a car with an alarm clock because you’re asleep at the wheel. You guessed it … the alarm clock is the “Oncoming Traffic.” The “Good News” is that sin can be Temporary. We don’t have to choose to live asleep at the wheel. With God’s help we can “wake up.” If you’re battling “Temporary Insanity” today … You’ll know that you have awakened when you realize everything you’re missing out on, and just how hungry you are for more of Jesus. I call that … “A Great Awakening!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Thanks so much for … “The Great Awakening” You gave me as a young man. I must admit that through the years I have faced “Temporary Insanity” on a number of occasions, but with Your help I’m still awake. Amen
