Can You Imagine?

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

John 18:22

When Jesus said this, one of the officials nearby slapped him in the face. “Is this the way you answer the high priest?” he demanded.

O-bservation:

Jesus was being questioned by the high priest not long before His crucifixion, and the high priest asked Him about his teaching. Jesus said, “Ask the folks who I’ve been teaching in the synagogues and on the streets and in the villages.” With that, one of the nameless officials slapped Jesus. He said, “Is that any way to speak to the high priest?”

A-pplication:

“Can You Imagine?” That’s my first thought when I read this story. “Can You Imagine” being the OFFICIAL who slapped God in the face in this passage? I suppose you have to understand the context. The official served the high priest, who was the law of the land for Jewish people. I get that, but still, “Can You Imagine” being the one who slapped God in the face and one day will stand before Him to face judgment? “Can You Imagine” that? Here’s one more thought. I’d like to believe that somewhere between having slapped God in the face and his death, the OFFICIAL, accepted Jesus as his Messiah. That’s something that I really can imagine. Why? Because God’s grace is so amazing that He can forgive way more than a slap in the face. He’s Almighty, and He loves, and He forgives to the uttermost. “Can You Imagine?”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m forever grateful and yielded and in love with You. Sometimes it’s hard to imagine Your incredible and amazing Grace. But this AM, I imagine even that. Amen
