Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
O-bservation:
St. Peter is the writer of these words. Other than Judas, Peter probably failed Jesus more than any of the other disciples. During Jesus’ darkest hour before his crucifixion, Peter denied Jesus on three different occasions. Later, after His resurrection, Jesus met the disciples on the beach one morning and cooked breakfast for them. At that event, Jesus forgave Peter of his sin. Of course, Peter had confessed before Jesus that he truly did love him. In time Peter became the rock of the Christian faith through his evangelistic efforts, and he eventually died for the faith through martyrdom.
A-pplication:
Because he had been forgiven so much, Peter’s word in this passage to all who have failed Jesus is, “Just Confess It.” That’s right. Instead of standing back and acting as if nothing ever happened and employ a giant cover-up, “Just Confess It.” Yesterday I read in our local online newspaper of a former Miami Heat basketball player whose sports agent forgot to notify the Heat that the player was exercising his right to return to play for them after playing for them for four years. It cost the player three million dollars!! Instead of trying to cover it up, this agent immediately admitted that it was his mistake. He called the player and set up a payback plan to the player personally. It was only this year the agent paid back the entire three-million-dollar debt! The two have been very close friends through it all, and the agent gained many new clients because of his honesty. Sometimes confessing one’s sins costs big time, yet in time CONFESSION IS ALWAYS GOOD FOR THE SOUL. That’s why this AM I encourage you to, “Just Confess It!”

Dear Jesus,
I’m so grateful this AM that when I confess my sin, You are faithful to forgive my sin and everything else that goes with It. Help me to keep confessing to You! Amen
