Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Deuteronomy 10:18
He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.
O-bservation:
These were the words of Moses to the people of Israel concerning the heart of God. His concern for the widow, the orphan, and the foreigner living among us speaks of God’s love and compassion for people who are alone and desperate for help.
A-pplication:
I read this passage this AM with a deep heart of GRATITUDE, because I’ve never experienced being FATHERLESS. I’ve never experienced being a WIDOWER, thank God. And, by the grace of God I’ve never been a FOREIGNER, or refugee, having to live in any country other than my own. This passage speaks to me of our wonderful Jesus, who’s always thinking of the people who, by nature, I’m not thinking about. If you feel like an “Underdog” right now, Jesus is on your side. If you feel rejected, Jesus is on your side. If you’re in a situation where you feel like you are totally alone, you’re not! JESUS IS ON YOUR SIDE! Because Jesus operates in this fashion, it is incumbent upon everyone who call themselves “Followers Of Jesus” to operate in the same way as our Lord does. We really don’t have the option to look down on anyone else as if it’s their fault they don’t have a family or have been left by themselves through death! NO!! You and I are called to be Jesus to them. To step in as Jesus would and help meet their need. I suppose you could say that, in a spiritual sense, we are to be their DEFENDER. If you’re wondering why, just read the passage again. “Jesus Is Our Defender!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Thank You that at those times in my life when I felt like I was in the battle by myself, You always reminded me that You are my defender. Amen
