Your Work Is Your Worship

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Exodus 37:29

They also made the sacred anointing oil and pure, fragrant incense—the work of a perfumer.

O-bservation:

The writer of the Book of Exodus reported on the work being done on the “Ark of the Covenant,” which was to be housed inside the mobile tabernacle in the wilderness during Israel’s forty-year sojourn there. In the first verse of this chapter, we are told that the man who oversaw the work being done on the ark was Bezalel. But the verse above tells us of the person who developed the sacred anointing oil used in the Ark of the Covenant and only mentions “A Perfumer.” This person’s name never made it into the Bible, but what they did for a living certainly did. The truth is, “Your Work Is Your Worship.”

A-pplication:

After almost fifty years of standing behind a pulpit and preaching the gospel for a living, I’ve become weary of people saying that my profession is The Real Ministry! I can’t buy that anymore. Every believer on the face of the earth was put here by God to worship Him through what they do for a living. So whether you’re a man who fixes cars or a woman who surgically fixes brains, “Your Work Is Your Worship!” We can’t live without each other. Every part of our physical body is important to the other parts. That is also true of every member of the Body of Christ. For me to do what I do, I need you to do what you do. It’s not that we are interchangeable. It’s more that we are interactional so we can flow like a mighty river of God’s grace to the hurting masses of people where we live. Before you start wishing you were someone else, remember, “Your Work Is Your Worship.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m grateful you have given me a job to do in your Kingdom. With your help, I will not stop. I realize that my work is my worship! Amen
