Why Fight The Lord?
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Acts 5:39
But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.
O-bservation:
The Apostles, including Peter, had been thrown into prison, but an angel of the Lord had led them out free. The next day they were speaking in front of the Sanhedrin, the legal ruling body of the Jewish people. They so infuriated these religious leaders that the leaders wanted to kill them. However, Gamaliel, a leader respected by all, rose and said, “Let these men go. If they’re phony they won’t succeed, but if they are real and of God, no one will be able to stop them.”
A-pplication:
Gamaliel’s words were from the Lord and it settled everyone down. The Sanhedrin had the Apostles beaten and then released them. When they returned to their headquarters, the Apostles all celebrated and were thrilled they had been counted worthy by the Lord to suffer for Him! The wisdom of the Jewish leader is quite formidable in this story. His main message to his associates was, “Let’s let things play out. If they are of God NO ONE will be able to stop them.” That was true then and it’s true today. That’s why my conclusion of this short story when I contextualize it in my present situation is, “Why Fight The Lord?” Go with God.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m on Your side this AM. I know Your way is the BEST way, besides being the ONLY RIGHT way to go. That’s why I’ll always say, “Why Fight The Lord?” Amen
