Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Peter 1:20
He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.
O-bservation:
The Apostle Peter was like every other disciple of Jesus, save Judas, in this one area. Each one of them believed that Jesus would return in their time. In other words, each of them believed that he was living in the “Last Times” before Christ’s return. But when you fast forward to today, you’ve got to ask yourself, “Which Last Times” was he talking about?
A-pplication:
The other night, I was on the phone with my ninety-year-old mother, and I was telling her that my youngest son and his wife were expecting their third child. She was so happy, but then she made this comment: “I don’t know why young people want to bring children into a world that is so troubled.” I chuckled because I thought back more than fifty years ago, to being fourteen, when my mother and father told me that my mom was expecting their third child! I was shocked. Towards the end of mom’s pregnancy, my grandmother, mom’s mom, came to stay with us. One day she said to me, “Rich, I just don’t know what young people are thinking by bringing little children into this troubled world.” My little sisters are now in their late forties and have done incredible things for the kingdom of God. Every generation believes their generation is the last, and that it will all end on their watch. That’s a good thing, though. It keeps us on our toes, watching and waiting for the return of Jesus.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m aware this AM that I am a citizen of heaven and that this world is not my eternal home or dwelling place. No, I’m looking for that city whose builder and maker is God. And I won’t be home until I see Your face. Amen
