When Religious History Rebels Against Faith

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Romans 9:30

What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith.

O-bservation:

Remember that in the Old and New Testament tradition, the Jewish people looked condescendingly towards the Gentiles, or better said, anyone who wasn’t Jewish. At that time, they lived as though they were better than anyone. They came by this naturally since they knew they were the chosen of the Lord. Yet with the coming of Jesus, the old way of working for your religion was no longer what God required. The new faith was based upon faith in God and not one’s own righteousness. The Gentiles could not live up to the Jewish tradition since they had little knowledge of it, but willing, by FAITH, they were embraced by the Lord.

A-pplication:

With the coming of Jesus to the earth and His subsequent death on the cross, burial, and resurrection from the grave for humankind’s sin, the new dilemma to be faced was “When Religious History Rebels Against Faith.” That’s what the Jewish people faced then, and they still face it today. All the Christian faith requires is FAITH IN CHRIST. No rules, regulations, or rituals. Just FAITH IN JESUS. But what happens “When Religious History Rebels Against Faith?” I believe it leaves a person faithless and dependent on their own rule-keeping ability, which leaves a person guilty at the end of the day. The Gentiles readily received Jesus as their personal Savior by FAITH. The Jewish people, not so much. Even today, not so much. Yet the Christian FAITH soars around the world because Gentiles have said YES to the gospel. Don’t let religious history hold you back from a personal relationship with Jesus. By FAITH.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m so grateful this AM for the opportunity to place all of my FAITH in YOU. You have changed my life forever and given me a reason to face life with joy! Thank You! Amen
