What Is Expected In A Christian Leader’s Life?

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Malachi 2:7
For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, because he is the messenger of the Lord Almighty and people seek instruction from his mouth.
O-bservation:
In this book of Malachi, the Lord was very unhappy about how the spiritual leaders (priests) had been leading the people. God said knowledge ought to be preserved in your lips because that person is God’s spokesperson and the knowledge that comes from his mouth must be from the Lord. But that had not happened for the people of Israel, and God brought those priests down in that day.
A-pplication:
I’ve been one of those modern-day priests for 47 years as of this writing. I’ve seen leaders come and go. Most often those who “go” before their time, and by that I mean leave the ministry they once led because of some kind of inappropriate behavior, could be seen coming in what they had been preaching long before they fell. Why? For the very reason that is spoken in the above passage. They did not preserve knowledge on their lips. Usually pride, then money, then lusts leading to sexual sin, follows. Those areas in a person’s life can only be brought under control when a man or woman remembers who God is and what role we are to play in God’s world. God doesn’t play in our world, He is God. But when that is forgotten in a leader’s life their end is on the way. When you ask, “What Is Expected In A Christian Leader’s Life,” I would answer in Micah’s famous words, “To love mercy and to act justly and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8b).
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM I am humbled to study Your word and think about this passage. Let me be the spiritual leader You have in mind for me to be. Amen
