Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
John 4:34
“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.”
O-bservation:
Here, Jesus lets His disciples know that when He does the will of God, He’s actually being nourished. He said that doing God’s will and finishing God’s work is like eating a nourishing meal.
A-pplication:
How’s your food been tasting lately? Probably a better question is, what is it that nourishes you? Jesus said, “Doing My Father’s will is what nourishes me.” Oh I understand it’s meant as a metaphor, but let’s assume all of us are getting a balanced diet from the five food groups. After that, what keeps us going? Some are motivated by money, which is a dead end. Some are motivated by power, which is limited. Some are motivated by fame, which can be so easily TRUMPED in a moment. But doing the will of God has a different taste to it. “What Does The Will Of God Taste Like,” you may ask? From personal experience I can tell you it tastes really good!
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
If You help me, I’ll promise to stay nourished by doing Your will! Amen
