Walk This Way

S. O. A. P.

Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 1:1

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers.

O-bservation:

The author of the Book of Psalms opens up sounding more like his wisdom-giving son Solomon than the singer he actually is. David’s incredible wisdom is offered in this opening four line verse. He says, “You will be blessed if you as an individual will refuse to walk the same path as rebels, or hang with people driven by fleshly desires, or love the way of the cynic.”

A-pplication:

Each summer when I was very young, my parents would take my little sister and me on a two week vacation from our home state of Florida to my Granddad’s farm in Ohio. Back then, all we had for directions were Atlas Road Maps. Sometimes they were incomplete and my Dad would pull in and ask for directions at a gas station. He would ask, “What road do I take to get to my destination?” Sometimes he still ended up on the wrong road and it would cause us to arrive at a destination we never planned on. The same can be said of life. Which road are you “Walking” and what destination are you planning on? Based upon your initial decisions, you can choose a road that in the end drops you at a location that leaves you asking … “Where did I miss it?” This passage is a directive for the “road less traveled,” the one that will take you all the way home. I can almost hear King David saying right now … “Walk This Way.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

When I hear You say … “Walk This Way,” I know You have my best interest in mind. I’m heading in your direction right now! Amen
