Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Acts 18:26
He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.
O-bservation:
Apollos was a man of Greece. He was a person who had become a follower of Jesus Christ and studied the word of God to the best of his ability. He was eloquent, he was a defender of the Faith, and when Aquila and Priscilla heard him speak, they invited him to their home and encouraged him. They also gave him a more clearly defined understanding of the Lord.
A-pplication:
Apollos was a man who was greatly admired in the New Testament. On one occasion, Paul said, “I have planted, Apollos has watered, but it’s God who gives the increase” (1 Cor. 3:6). This man was a defender of the faith, and yet even he, a central figure in the Early Church, needed to be “Coached Up.” It’s to Apollos’ credit that he humbled himself before this powerful couple in the Early Church and took their advice. Today we are living in unchartered waters quite a bit of the time as “Followers Of Jesus.” Whenever a man or woman of God, especially those who are older, offer advice, take it as a personal “Coaching” moment. They didn’t have to go out of their way, but they saw in you the makings of a real winner. And the real winners that I’ve met in my life always stop and listen, just like Apollos did. Because … “All Of Us Need Some Coaching.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I want to be like Apollos today. With Your help, I will humble myself when they come. And I know they will just keep coming. I know You’re trying to tell me … “Rich, you could use some Coaching!” Amen
