The Obedient Child
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Luke 2:51
Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart.
O-bservation:
St. Luke writes that Jesus was an obedient son to his parents. This happened after His parents had left him in Jerusalem and headed back to Nazareth. They didn’t do it on purpose, and when they discovered He wasn’t with them, they rushed back to Jerusalem and found him discussing the scriptures with the Rabbis. When they schooled him, He said He had to be about His Father’s business. He willingly went back to Nazareth and obeyed His parents from then on.
A-pplication:
You could call Jesus, the Son of God, “The Obedient Child.” Jesus lived His life on earth the way He wants us to live our lives on earth. He kept the Ten Commandments, and He wants us to keep the Ten Commandments. He loved people with His whole heart, and that’s the way He wants us to love people. With our whole heart. But when the scripture says Jesus was “The Obedient Child,” some people say, “This is where I get off the Jesus bandwagon. I can’t live a life of obedience.” However, obedience is better than sacrifice. That’s what the scripture teaches us. Today it’s time to lay aside the rebellious side of life and determine that “With God’s help, I want to be The Obedient Child.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Thank You this AM, that You have established the record of how You want us to live here on earth. Help me continue to live my life wholeheartedly for You. Amen
