Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
2 Corinthians 11:30
If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.
O-bservation:
St. Paul had just finished an amazing defense of his message and ministry. He had come under ridicule from charlatans who claimed to be apostles. At the end of his defense he said, “I’d much rather boast of my weaknesses.”
A-pplication:
It’s almost as if Paul surprised himself at how powerful a defense of the Gospel he gave. It appears that he kind of woke up out of his oratory and remembered “The Need For Humility.” That’s not to say that Paul wasn’t being humble, but his nature was to always yield to whatever Jesus wanted and not what he wanted. Here’s the question; what do you want? What do WE, as believers, really want? I believe I’m being honest when I say I want to yield to whatever Jesus wants. For that to happen there will always be “The Need For Humility.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
It You need me to sweep floors or stand before kings and argue for the sake of the gospel, I’m ready to do whatever YOU want. Amen
