The High Calling

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Exodus 29:1a

This is what you are to do to consecrate them, so they may serve me as priests.

The Lord told Moses to consecrate or set apart Aaron and his sons for “The High Calling” of the priesthood. These men were to go before the Lord on behalf of the people of Israel, that their sins might be atoned for. But God let Moses know that their ultimate service was to the Almighty. They were to help the people be represented unto the Lord, but God wanted the priests for His work at His beck and call.

There has always been a need for men and women of God to be separated from the rest to have a unique and intimate relationship with the Lord. The first two were Adam and Eve, who walked with the Lord in the cool of the evening to talk with the Almighty. Of course, from that point on, you can go throughout the Old and New Testaments to read of the great leaders who were separated unto the Lord for “The High Calling.” I’m thinking right now of the time when the Lord spoke to the Apostles. The scripture says, “While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them’” (Acts 13:2). Somewhere in the heart of God is the desire for an intimate relationship with men and women who have shown themselves to be in pursuit of the Almighty. Yes, if your question is, “Does that mean there are certain people who actually desire more of God?” Yes, a thousand times yes to that question. The scripture says that if we draw nigh to the Lord, He will draw nigh to you and me. So today, join me in wanting more of the Lord. Perhaps we can be separated for “The High Calling” of our Lord.

Dear Jesus,

This one request, please choose me. Pick me for “The High Calling.” I want to be closer to You. Amen
