The Anointing Was On Him
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Chronicles 12:18
Then the Spirit came on Amasai, chief of the Thirty, and he said: “We are yours, David! We are with you, son of Jesse! Success, success to you, and success to those who help you, for your God will help you.” So David received them and made them leaders of his raiding bands.
O-bservation:
A group of soldiers from the tribe of Benjamin came to offer their lives and service to King David. They were powerful men. Their chief was Amasai, who was over thirty mighty men. David had said to them if they were coming in peace, he would receive them. But if they had ulterior motives, God would be his defender. Suddenly, the Spirit came upon Amasai, and he said, “No we have come to see you blessed with success.” Another translation says peace. David accepted them and made them some of his chosen leaders.
A-pplication:
The kind of warriors that David had coming to his stronghold at that time was astounding. Men from every tribe were coming, and many of them were some of the greatest warriors ever written of. How did this happen? I believe two factors made it happen. First, these men were skilled and battle-tested warriors, and there was no longer leadership with Saul dead. They saw in David a hope for their life’s calling and skills. Second, I believe these men could tell that “The Anointing Was On Him.” When a man or woman is covered with the anointing of the Lord, great things can happen because they have been selected by God to win. As a young man, I would hear my father say to me over and over, “Rich, ask the Lord for His anointing on your life.” And I did. I can tell you that the anointing of the Lord makes all the difference.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I don’t want to move today without Your precious anointing on my life. In my life, your anointing has made all the difference for my family. Thank You for Your anointing! Amen
