S. O. A. P.
Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
2 Corinthians 9:15
Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
O-bservation:
Paul the Apostle speaks in this entire chapter, as well as the previous one, on the subject of the importance of generosity and how it must be employed regularly in the life of every “Follower of Jesus.” But then he ends the discourse by thanking God for His “Indescribable Gift.”
A-pplication:
It’s not my place to make this place the place to discuss the “Triune Godhead.” All I know and believe is that God has a son, and his name is Jesus, and they are separate but the same. And the “Indescribable Gift” mentioned by the Apostle is Jesus. Let me try and tell you what Jesus means to me just briefly. He loved me when I didn’t love myself. He’s made me impressive to others when I was depressed with myself. He lifted me up when I couldn’t get up. He forced me with His love to a place of peace when I was overwhelmed by stress. He covered my sins when others tried to find them. He provided me a “Way” so many times where there absolutely was “No Way.” When I couldn’t find rest, He cradled me in His loving arms. See what a lousy job I did by trying to explain God’s “Indescribable Gift?” That’s why Paul didn’t try. Better to just say … “Thank God for Jesus.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m crying now on this early AM thinking of all You have done for me. I’m yours. Truly You are “Indescribable.” Amen
