LIFE, Both Here and Over There

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Proverbs 12:28 In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality.

O-bservation:

Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, promoted RIGHTEOUSNESS as a way to eternal life over THERE and Legacy or Immortality on THIS side of heaven. In other words, a righteous man’s name lives on through others, here on earth, long after he has physically passed away.

A-pplication:

In Solomon’s day there hadn't been a means of salvation through faith in Jesus. Jesus had not yet come and laid down His life for our sins. In Solomon’s day it was the promise of heaven through "Good Works." Obviously the "Good Works Plan" didn't work. Every human being needs the salvation of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit in order to live the "Abundant Life" God has planned for us. Yet, every person who determines to live a righteous life through the saving grace of Jesus will have eternal life over THERE forever. But even while they're here on earth, they impact so many folks, including their own families, that long after they're gone they continue to influence the generations that follow after them. Solomon called it "Immortality," we call it "Legacy." God said, "If you will love Me and obey Me I will bless a 1,000 generations of those who follow after you (Exodus 20:6, paraphrase). So why not choose today to live Righteous by God’s Grace. If you do, you will experience ... "Life, Both HERE and Over THERE!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Because of Your "Saving Grace" in my life, it is my honor to yield to Your Will and Way. I know that YOU know what's best for me. Amen

Don’t Let SALVATION Bore You

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 51:12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

O-bservation:

This verse comes from a famous chapter in Psalm where David, in writing, "Confesses" and "Repents" before the Lord of his sin with Bathsheba. He was so penitent that it didn’t matter to him that the whole world would have access to his woeful act for all of history. It was imperative in David's plea that the Holy Spirit would not be taken from him, and that the "Joy of His Salvation" would be returned to him. He wanted it to be just like it was at the beginning.

A-pplication:

So often the reason we mortals sin is because we have become BORED with LIVING. The "Same Old, Same Old" creeps in and surrounds us with an "Enslavement to the Routine." There is a piece of us that is labeled "Danger," and if it is not dealt with it will crave the Sensual, the Unrestrained, and the "Out of Bounds" territory no "Follower of Jesus" should be traveling in. It is in those times that the "Joy of Our Salvation" seems a million miles away. Yet the price and sacrifice that Jesus paid for our freedom from the unrestrained living that brings death should be at the forefront of everything we think and do. The sheer joy of knowing that we are free and delivered from an "Out Of Bounds" way of living must be what drives us each day! My friend, "Don't Let SALVATION Bore You!" Remember, that very JOY is what gives us strength.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, How very Thankful and Joyful I am this AM, that I've been set free and made clean by Your SALVATION. Amen

Mingling

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 106:35 But they mingled with the nations and adopted their customs.

O-bservation:

King David recounts Israel's history of "Rising and "Falling" in their relationship with God. On one such occasion, and there were many, they began to "MINGLE" with the people of the country they had been called to dominate. When they began to "MINGLE" with foreign people of other gods and ways of worship, they did not encourage them to accept their God and customs, instead they (Israel) adopted the practices of the foreigners.

A-pplication:

The word "MINGLE" means: "To become mixed, blended, or united." In the Old Testament, no matter how unfair or unjust it may appear to we mortals, God would often have His people (Israel) destroy everyone they conquered! In no way did God want His people to "MINGLE" with the people they had conquered. In Deuteronomy 7, God told Israel not to marry outside of the house of Israel, because the Israelites would not convert the foreign people to their ways, instead the opposite would happen. In the New Testament, Jesus said in Luke 19:13, "Occupy till I come." This has been translated as ... "Set up shop and take over till I get back." In other words, never has God wanted us to MIX with the system of the world! Instead, God has called us to lead people out of their darkness and into His marvelous light of Salvation. Anything less has to do with "MINGLING."

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, As I move into the "Marketplace" to do business today, may I remember that my call is to introduce people to You. Only when people encounter You, will they ever really get it. Amen

Salvation Is Always On God’s Heart

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Ezekiel 18:21 But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die.

O-bservation:

Here the Prophet Ezekiel relates the words of the Almighty, letting the people in that day know that no matter what they had done salvation was still possible.

A-pplication:

We don't always think of the Old Testament as being a place of salvation for lost souls. Certainly we know that God considered the people of Israel His beloved people, and He wanted their lives to reflect His grace, love, and mercy as a picture of His unending love. But in this verse we see even more. We see a God who longs  for His own people, who have gone astray, to come back to Him so they can have eternal life. "Will Not Die" did not mean that they would never die on earth, rather it meant that they would have eternal life. That's in the Old Testament! How much more do we know because of the sacrificial death of Jesus? The grace of God is proof that "Salvation Is Always On God’s Heart!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, This AM I am reminded that I must always be grateful for my eternal salvation! Amen

SOME

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 John 1:4 It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us.

O-bservation:

It is assumed that John the Apostle wrote this letter to the Church as a whole at that time. It is also believed that the "lady" he addressed the letter to in verse 1 is a metaphor for the Church. John was thankful that "SOME" of the people in that day were following Jesus.

A-pplication:

Most "Followers Of Jesus" know the passage in 2 Peter 3:9 that says God doesn't want anyone on the planet to go to hell. At the same time, all of us on the planet were given a "free will" at birth. Because of that "free will," any of us can choose to reject the loving grace of our Lord. That's why, no matter how desperate we may be to win the entire planet for Jesus, in the end only "SOME" will actually yield their lives to Jesus. "SOME," but not ALL. I've known this from the time I was a young believer, however it has never deterred me from believing that ALL may come to Christ. Like our Lord and Savior Jesus we will always reach for ALL, knowing that in the end only "SOME" will be saved.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I'm believing that as I go into the marketplace today I will find my ALL saying YES to Jesus. Help me! Amen
