Just Be Glad!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 32:11 Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!

O-bservation:

An edict came from the most powerful man in all of Israel, King David. Start REJOICING and get GLAD if you call yourself a RIGHTEOUS person. If your heart is clean and pure before the Lord ... "Just Get Glad!"

A-pplication:

My Father-in-Law used to say that our biggest enemy in life is GRAVITY! Of course as a young man I didn't have a clue what he was talking about. But through the years I believe I've seen aging people actually get shorter! Their shoulders begin to slump and getting out of a chair becomes an almost impossible "PUSH." Not only are there physical changes that come with age in our war with Gravity, but there's also the potential for ATTITUDES to change as well. Where there once was Joy and a "Can-Do" spirit, it can easily change to ... "It's ALL Bad Now!" And then Complaining and more Complaining and it's really Bad. I think you're catching my drift. But here's the truth ... We can actually FIGHT Gravity. We can choose to get out of the chair and exercise until it gets easier to get up. And we can CHOOSE to be UP in our attitude. We can smile. We can have a good word for those we come in contact with. Because at the end of the day, it's ALL a CHOICE. The KING knew that. That's why he said ... "Just Be Glad!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I'm going to jump to my feet right now from my position of prayer today ... And ... "Just Be Glad!" Amen

Find Your Tribe

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 119:74 May those who fear you rejoice when they see me, for I have put my hope in your word.

O-bservation:

King David prayed to God that people would rejoice when they saw him because they would know that he, David, knew God’s word.

A-pplication:

I work with a lot of young adults here in South Florida. This place is not unlike NYC, or LA, because, in many cases people are trying to find their dream here. A number of these young people are "Jesus Followers." When they get to our church and see all of the young adults, you can see their eyes brighten. It's as if they have found their tribe. Why? Because in a place far away from home, they finally connect with other people their age who love Jesus. You can see it in them. It's the look that says..."I'm Home! Don't ever rest until you first of all.."Find Your TRIBE!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Everything changed the day I met You. I found my TRIBE. I love hanging with other folks but I always have in mind that I need to introduce them to my TRIBE! Most of all to my JESUS. Amen

Never Rejoice Over Another’s Calamity

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Ezekiel 25:7 Therefore I will stretch out my hand against you and give you as plunder to the nations. I will wipe you out from among the nations and exterminate you from the countries. I will destroy you, and you will know that I am the Lord.

O-bservation:

The Ammonites are the people of the nation known as Jordon today. God decided to wipe them out for rejoicing at the destruction of Judah and Israel, which was forthcoming. And for about as long as Israel wandered for thousands of years across the planet, Jordon was nothing more than a place for shepherds to graze their sheep. With the return of Israel today, Jordon is once again flourishing and is one of Israel’s closest allies in the Middle East. Yet, at this time in history, the Ammonites (Jordanians) found themselves rejoicing over Israel’s demise.

A-pplication:

I wanted you to know a little history of this region so you could also realize that God’s plans are not like our plans. He sees thousands of years into the future, and He decided to punish the Ammonites for their jubilant reaction to their neighbor’s downfall. Even when we are up against what we perceive to be an enemy, God may have other plans in mind. He knows that somewhere down the road, we may need each other. That’s why St. Paul said, “Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn” (Rom.12:15). Triumphing over anyone’s loss is never the way of Christian scripture. Everyone who doesn't know Christianity we see as a potential “saved one” through the blood of Jesus Christ. This is why it is absolutely imperative that we “Never Rejoice Over Another’s Calamity.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, This AM’s post is nothing more than a reminder for my brothers and sisters to reject any opportunity to rejoice at someone else’s failure. When that happens, it makes it difficult for them to accept that my God really does love them. Amen

Get Ready For Better Days!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Isaiah 51:11
Those the Lord has rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

O-bservation:

The great prophet Isaiah was forecasting a day when Israel would return to Zion singing and rejoicing in the Lord Most High after much hardship. All their pain and sorrow would be replaced with joy and gladness. In fact, everlasting joy would crown their heads.

A-pplication:

In this present day that you and I are living in, Zion represents the Church. I believe that the Lord is defending and describing His Bride the Church in this passage. All tourists who travel to the Holy Land come back with extreme joy and gladness that they’ve made the journey, and they count the days until they can return. Not everyone will get to make the journey to Jerusalem in their lifetime. But in every city, there is a group of people who represent Zion. They are the Church. The Church of Jesus Christ is meant to bring joy and gladness to the hearts of God’s people. If you are not part of a local church/Zion, I encourage you to connect with one. David said, “I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord” (Ps. 122:1). Once you connect with a local church, “Get Ready For Better Days.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Today I give You praise and thanksgiving for Your Church, of which I am a part. Because of my faith family, I’m always looking forward to better days ahead! Amen
