S-cripture:
Exodus 8:28
Pharaoh said, “I will let you go to offer sacrifices to the Lord your God in the wilderness, but you must not go very far. Now pray for me.”
O-bservation:
This is the story of Moses going to Pharaoh and asking him to let the people of God go. God sent plagues upon Egypt to help accommodate Moses’ demands, but Pharaoh’s heart was hardened. On this occasion, when Moses had called for flies to swarm the entirety of the nation of Egypt, Pharaoh asked Moses to, “Pray For Me.”
A-pplication:
Moses prayed, the flies left, but still Pharaoh would not let the people go. God, of course, brought another plague. Eventually, Pharaoh let the Israelis go. But I want to make a different point here. I’ve rarely in my lifetime seen a person in trouble I was in communication with, who didn’t say, “Pray For Me!” I’ve been with people of every description, in all kinds of unheard-of circumstances. Some were just like Pharaoh and were dead set against change but still wanted prayer. Prayer is the most powerful force “Followers Of Jesus” possess. Everyone wants prayer. You may ask, “Well, if many won’t change, what’s the point of prayer?” Pray anyway. I’m not God, and neither are you. We’re commanded in the New Testament to pray without ceasing. Every time I pray for someone, I think, “This will be the one changed through prayer!” I always believe that, and you should too. And while you’re at it, please, “Pray For Me.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
With Your help, I will continue to pray for people, whether they change or not. Here’s what I know, when I pray for people, I change. Amen
