Don’t Cry Over Hard Work

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Exodus 1:12,13
But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites, and worked them ruthlessly.

O-bservation:

As the book of Exodus opens history tells us that hundreds of years had passed since Joseph had died. A new Pharaoh had arrived on the scene and knew nothing of Joseph and his exploits. That continued for generations. What the Pharaoh did notice was the fact that the Hebrews were multiplying to the point that he became afraid. So he worked them harder and harder with slave masters over them. However the more intense the work and pressure that was applied to the Hebrews the more the Israelites multiplied.

A-pplication:

Tough times produce tough people. With ease, comes over-fed spineless folks who somehow feel entitled. At this point in history Israel was developing into a lean mean fighting machine. It was happening without them knowing it. The more they were overburdened the more they multiplied. In time they became a threat to those in control. You probably know the rest of the story how Moses was raised up to set his people free. But I want to bring it home to you right now. All I want to say is, “Don’t Cry Over Hard Work!” Something good can come out of it! It certainly was true for the Israelites and it will be true for you. Keep working.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,
This morning as I contemplate this story and this truth I want to say Thank You! Thank You for helping me go through tough times and hard work. Thank you that in time I learned that my work is my worship unto you oh Lord. Amen
