It Won’t Shake

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Hebrews 12:28,29 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”

O-bservation:

This information given to us by the Holy Spirit, through the pen of the author of Hebrews, tells us that we have been given (and it is ongoing) a Kingdom that cannot be shaken. So our only response is a "Holy Awe," with Thanksgiving unto our Great God. After all, He is an all-consuming fire.

A-pplication:

The last line of this passage speaks of the Omnipotence of Jesus. He is: All Powerful, All Consuming, and Unshakable! Think about it, our RELATIONSHIPS with friends and even close family members get shaken. Our BELIEFS evolve through the years. We loosen up on some things and tighten up on others. Our DOCTRINES sometimes shift. What we used to think was important, now may not be that important. However, the one thing that won't be shaken is the Kingdom of Almighty God. THAT ... just keeps coming at us ... who believe. "IT WON'T SHAKE!" So, what should our response be in an ever shifting, ever shaking world to our God whose Kingdom will not be shaken? Humbly Thank and Worship HIM, who is simply "ALL POWERFUL!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I am AWED by YOU this AM. I stand amazed in Your presence my dear, All Powerful JESUS! Amen

An Unworthy World

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Hebrews 11:38a The world was not worthy of them.

O-bservation:

The writer lists a group of people in biblical history who have been labeled as members of ... "The Hall of FAITH." After going through a brief history of a number of those "HEROES of FAITH" he says, "The world was not worthy of them."

A-pplication:

Too often journalists and editorialists, radio show hosts and TV news anchormen produce daily information that sounds a whole lot like that of yesterday and the day before and the month and year before that. Bad news in the form of thieves, villains, murderers, terrorists, rapists, and other forms of debauchery are promoted each day to a national audience drunk on filth. And then there are those who, by faith, move forward to live against the tide, rise above the waves, and soar higher than the storm. For all of this, they are the unknown and unsung heroes of a "Lost Society." More often than not, if they ARE discovered they are laughed at, ridiculed, and mocked as "Do-Gooders." Even so, they "Press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called them" (Phil. 3:14, paraphrase). We "Followers Of Jesus" are proud of them! AND ... it is our desire to be numbered among them in the face of ... "An Unworthy World."

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, This AM I am reminded that You became a curse to a watching world as You hung on that cross. The world was unworthy of You, yet You loved us anyway. Help me love people anyway. Amen

I Won’t Let Go

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

O-bservation:

The writer of the book of Hebrews encourages all believers to forsake any other enticing offers in life and, with unashamed abandonment to Jesus, "Dig In!" Because in the final analysis God has given us an eternal promise and He will be faithful to keep His promise.

A-pplication:

This passage is especially true of believers who live in relatively safe places, where freedom is a lifestyle and money is available. This group is especially targeted in this "Last Generation" of time to yield to any temptation that might be offered. Certainly the writer was writing to people in his lifetime, but it certainly speaks to this writer's heart as I see what's going on around me. The directive in this passage is to "Hold Fast." In other words, don't let anything cause you to let go of your faith and what you profess to be. We who are "Followers of Jesus" signed up because we believe "He is the way, the TRUTH and the life (John 14:6). He promised us at the beginning of this journey that He would see us through this life and the life that is yet to come. If you're like me, you believe that Jesus will be faithful to keep His promise. Because of this fact ... "I Won't Let Go!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt this AM that You are a "Promise Keeper." Because of this I can't ... and ... "I Won't Let Go Of You!" Amen

Who Made It?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Hebrews 3:4 For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything

O-bservation:

The writer is establishing the fact that nothing just happens. Things don't just appear out of nowhere. If you see a house standing, it's because someone built the house. The power behind this single verse is that it's one thing to build something, it's an entirely different thing to have built EVERYTHING. God is the builder of everything and He is greater than all things.

A-pplication:

Arrogance usually results when a person takes credit for something they didn't make happen. Anyone who is guilty of such a matter is living in a very small world. God invites all of us to look around. All of humanity's creations dwarf when laid in front of the backdrop of the Grand Canyon, Mount Kilimanjaro, the Colorado River, and any of the oceans of the world! Humans build stuff and then blow their own stuff up. What remains is what God built, which can't be blown up. So if limited, peanut humanity built the Eiffel Tower, who really built it? Not only did God make heaven and earth, He also made everything in it. That's including Humankind! So now, since we know who really made "The Tower," the next time you hear someone boast of their own accomplishments you need to ask ... "Who Really Made It?"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I thank You this AM for the ability You have given me, but all I'm taking credit for is my sin. Thank You that You forgive me and continue to bless me. Amen

The Gift of Joy

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Hebrews 1:9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

O-bservation:

The writer of Hebrews chose this passage from Psalm 45:7 to remind us that Jesus has been anointed as "The Gift of Joy" for every one of us."

A-pplication:

I can't tell you how many times (and they are too numerous to count) I have been privately depressed. Yes ... there ... I said it! I won't put my private depression on you, but I have met so many people who have confessed to me in coaching sessions the same thing. Every time I faced a time of private depression, my first thought is a prayer ... "Oh Jesus." In my life, Jesus has always been my "Oil Of Joy" for my own depression. I'm happy to report the depression doesn't last long because the gift of joy, Jesus, bathes the hurt, the sorrow, and the depression away. Friends can't do that, money can't do that, success can't do that, and even angels can't do that! Only Jesus can satisfy your soul. Do you have sorrow or depression right now? Say it with me. "Oh Jesus." He's "The Gift of Joy."

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Your name is like heaven to me. "Oh Jesus." This AM, I long to be bathed with Your JOY. Amen
