The Answer Is: Fear And Hope

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 33:18 But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love.

O-bservation:

David knew after years of following the Lord what really mattered to God. He said that special ATTENTION from the Lord would be given to those who really FEAR (have a Holy respect for) Him. Also the King said that those who have an unyielding HOPE in God's UNFAILING LOVE would be singled out for FAVOR.

A-pplication:

When I was a little boy and I was at a supermarket or park or playground of any description, I was usually accompanied by one or both of my parents. I was always aware that Dad or Mom's eye was on me. I knew they LOVED me, and I knew that Mom and Dad would do anything possible to help me. But I must say that they both appeared to me to be "God In The Flesh!" I mean I had a HOLY respect for Mom and Dad. I also had a never ending HOPE that somehow they would find a way to make things happen for me that I couldn't make happen for myself. And this was rooted in their UNFAILING LOVE for me. Such is the relationship that Jesus longs to have with each of us, His children. "The Answer Is: Fear And Hope!" Jesus will FAVOR those who FEAR Him and those whose HOPE is continually in Him will be consumed by His UNFAILING LOVE!

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, This AM I want to affirm once again that my total RESPECT and HOPE is anchored in You! You've Got Me! Amen

Just Keep Saying It!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 56:4 In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?

O-bservation:

Here was a man who was being chased by his enemies. He wasn't just any man; he was the greatest King in Israel's history—David. Fear had overwhelmed him so he began to confess the opposite. He said, “I'm not afraid,” and then he went on to say that his God is so powerful that nothing his enemies could say or do will be able to succeed against him.

A-pplication:

Sometimes the best thing you can do to a challenge is speak to it. When I was a small boy, we used to sing a song in kid’s church. "Be careful little eyes what you see, be careful little ears what you hear, there's a God up above looking down with arms of love, so be careful little eyes what you see." David was afraid. So instead of going deeper into fear he spoke to his fear. He said he would not be afraid and that his God was with him. If that wasn't enough, he said the same thing a few verses later in this chapter! David's plan was to ... "Just Keep Saying It!" Just like you can talk yourself into sin by telling yourself it's okay and no one will know, I believe with God’s help you can talk yourself out of fear. Because words build faith or fear, and your actions follow your words. Talk faith today! Then ... "Just Keep Saying It!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Because of Your care and concern over me, I will not be afraid today. Like I said ... I will not be afraid today! Amen!

All The Church Needs Is A Little Fear

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Acts 5:11 Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.

O-bservation:

The Bible tells us that Ananias and his wife Sapphira had lied to the church concerning a real estate deal and had fallen dead before the congregation. Because of this event, great FEAR fell upon the church.

A-pplication:

You would think that such a shocking event taking place on a Sunday morning would leave a group of “Jesus Followers” not just scared but having a feeling of “I’ll Never Go back!” Yet, because of this event, verse number fourteen tells us, “Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number.” (Vs. 14) You see, even though God struck two members down for lying, he also used his people on earth to heal many people and work miracles. The FEAR got their attention, but the miracles turned the fear-mongers into BELIEVER’S. The challenge for the church today is, will we let God have his complete way, as in judging us for our wrongdoing, or will we demand spectacular miracles only? People can get tired of a winning show, but if you throw a little fear in there, I believe the folks will just keep on coming. “All The Church Needs Is A Little FEAR!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I know the FEAR of what happened in the house of God when Ananias and Sapphira fell dead that Sunday morning - in time — brought about great revival. Please, Lord, keep us dependent upon you! Amen

A Radical Invitation

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Luke 5:10 Then Jesus said to Simon, 'Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.'

O-bservation:

In the single challenge, Jesus issues a transformational call to Simon Peter, urging him not to fear but to embrace a new purpose—fishing for people. This simple yet profound statement marks a pivotal moment of redirection and discipleship.

A-pplication:

As I contemplate Jesus' Radical Invitation to Simon, I’m compelled to evaluate my own response to His call. What does Jesus’ call mean for you? Today, why not consider the areas in your life that Jesus is urging you to step out in faith. I know I will. Don’t be afraid of Jesus’ “Radical Invitation” today. Remember, He is with us in every venture, guiding us toward a life filled with purpose.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Help me overcome fear and embrace Your radical invitations, trusting that You are with me on my journey of purpose. Amen.

Seriously, Who Do You Fear?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 76:7a It is you alone who are to be feared.

O-bservation:

King David had lived long enough to realize that there was only one person in the universe to be feared. That person was God Almighty.

A-pplication:

Just answer a simple question this AM. "Seriously, Who Do You Fear?" When you look at the life of David, you could safely say he didn't fear man, including giants. He didn't fear bears or lions. He didn't fear living alone in dark caves, or in open fields under the stars. HOWEVER ... there was ONE he feared completely. His name is JESUS! Perhaps as you read this SOAP you're thinking, "I've got FEARS!” (plural) But I want to say, if you will change all those plural fears into just one FEAR, you'll never be afraid! So this AM, put all your hope, desire, longing, and holy Fear in Jesus. "Seriously, Who Do You Fear?"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, You're the ONE I love, hope, trust, and FEAR! Amen
