The Only Reason

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Corinthians 15:10a But by the grace of God I am what I am.

O-bservation:

If you trace the life of the Apostle Paul, you will find that he was highly skilled in the law and lacked no degree of scholarship as a young associate of the Sanhedrin. He was the same man who was changed by the power of God when he was on his way to Damascus to arrest "Followers of Jesus" who were residing there. Paul was so turned around by Jesus, that he planted churches as a missionary throughout Asia Minor, and then wrote nearly half of the New Testament! Most other men would've taken some credit for his accomplishments, but Paul said, "By the Grace of God I am what I am."

A-pplication:

Most folks are quick to give you their personal accomplishments. In fact, there are professionals who help people write their accomplishments into Résumé form when seeking new employment. The only way to look at such a thing is to simply call it what it is, self-promotion. That's the way the world operates. People end up winning and losing based upon their ability to promote themselves. Certainly, like me, you have a list of accomplishments in your life. In fact, that's what gives all of us a sense of real worth in the Kingdom of God. However, instead of writing out the list, next time why not just replace the list with this one line, "By the grace of God I am what I am!" And that's ... "The Only Reason!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, This AM I'm reminded of just Who "Butters My Bread!" Without You I have little to offer, but with You I always know I'm in the majority! Amen

There’s Just Something About The AM!

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 5:3 In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.

O-bservation:

In this verse, we once again see King David in a "shut in alone time" with the LORD, early in the AM. He actually affirmed that God hears him in the AM, and that's when he lays all of his petitions before the Lord.

A-pplication:

I don't have time in this short Devo to give you all of the scriptural background for what I'm going to say. I do believe, however, that it is safe to say that David had a daily AM time with God. As one reads scripture, those were quiet times of conversation and petition. Of course David said God heard his prayer in those sessions, and that he would patiently wait for the Lord’s response. That was in the AM. When King David talks about the night, it usually has to do with a tough time sleeping, crazy dreams, and what I've referred to before as David's "Night Terrors." I must say that my life and devotions before the Lord are not unlike King David. Everything makes more sense in the AM. I know God hears me and I petition Him there. But then comes the night! Oh my ... The NIGHT! Maybe you have experienced what I've experienced too. It's because of my AM solitude with Jesus that I'm able to sleep through the night! And for that I have to say ... "There's Just Something About The AM!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, It's AM time again. I have no hope outside of our AM sessions together. It is in these times I'm at peace because of You. And it's in these that I know You hear my prayer and I gladly wait for Your reply. Amen
