A Word To Every Follower Of Jesus

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Timothy 2:1 You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

O-bservation:

The Apostle Paul wrote this book to the man who bears the name on the cover. Timothy was simply told to "Be Strong" by the grace that only comes through Jesus Christ.

A-pplication:

Timothy was one of Paul's disciples who had often accompanied him on numerous missions trips. He was a Greek, not raised in the Jewish tradition. This made him an even more wonderful prospect for Paul in his pursuit of new Gentile believers. Through this entire chapter, Paul admonishes him in the ways of discipleship and what to expect. However, he begins the chapter with "A Word To Every Follower Of Jesus." He said, "Be Strong." Of course this is instead of "Be Weak." The way this is accomplished is through relying on the power of God's grace, found in Jesus. So the word today is, Be Strong Not Weak through the grace that is in Jesus! You can do it!!

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Today I'm relying totally on YOUR Grace! I'm ready to BE STRONG for my Lord. Amen

It’s What The Lord Has Always Wanted

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Isaiah 56:1 This is what the Lord says: “Maintain justice and do what is right, for my salvation is close at hand and my righteousness will soon be revealed.”

O-bservation:

When you read this passage and compare it to other passages in the Word of God that sound just like it, you know in your heart that what is said here well, “It’s What The Lord Has Always Wanted.” God wants his people to hold up a standard of Justice (FAIRNESS) for EVERYONE and do the RIGHT thing. So often, I’ve talked in these daily posts about the second half of the first chapter of the book of Romans. Paul tells us that the laws of God are written on our hearts at birth. That means there will be NO EXCUSE should we decide to act unjustly or rebel against what is right.

A-pplication:

Of course, when something is said over and over in the Bible as to how to act in a given situation, you already know that there will be temptation in those areas on a regular basis. From the time in grade school when no one would pick the little boy or girl who had some kind of social or physical setback to the time a judge is unwilling to prosecute a known bad guy because he or she has been threatened away from the courthouse as to what will happen if they rule for Justice in the matter, there’s always going to be a temptation to act unjustly and do the wrong thing. That was a long sentence because this is a long-standing temptation. If we fail to continually face the long-standing temptation and win, in time, we will face a long-standing sentence for our weakness to courageously face up to temptation in any form. Let’s take our stand for fairness and righteousness because “It’s What The Lord Has Always Wanted.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, This AM, help me not to be a good preacher and talker but a lousy lover of your truth. Practicing what I preach is more needed at this point in time than at any time I’ve been alive. Help me, help me, I pray. Amen

Just Say The Word

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Matthew 8:8 The centurion replied, Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.

O-bservation:

This is the story of the Roman soldier who was a heathen yet a God-fearing man. He came to Jesus and said, “I have a servant at my house who is desperately sick. Jesus said would you like for me to come to your house? The man said, “No, ‘Just Say The Word.’ For I am a man under authority, and I also have people under my authority, and I tell them to do something, and they do it. You don’t have to come to my house, because I know they will be healed if you, ‘Just Say The Word.” Jesus did, and the servant was healed.

A-pplication:

Jesus first responded to the man by saying, “I’ve not seen this kind of faith in all of Israel.” I love this story so much because it’s one more time where Jesus responded to real faith. The gospel story is a difficult story to accept at face value. The only way it can be received is through FAITH. So if you or any person decides to believe and have faith to receive Jesus as Lord, you and they are actually saying, “I have faith against all odds that this is true.” If you and I can have faith to become a Christ Follower, certainly like this Roman Centurion, we can have faith to say to Jesus, “Just Say The Word,’ and my child or my spouse, or my father or mother will be healed.” Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever, so at any point, you can ask him to “Just Say The Word.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I’m blessed today to call you my Lord. I’m grateful that you still save, heal and deliver people in this present time. More than ever, Jesus, I’m asking you to “Just Say The Word!” Really that’s all I need. Amen
