Keep Your Head

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Timothy 4:5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.

O-bservation:

St. Paul, in closing his second and final letter to Timothy, makes it clear that he’s counting on Timothy. He warns him to, “Keep Your Head.” Then he tells him to make full use of every gift the Lord has given him, in order to get the gospel out.

A-pplication:

Never lose sight of the fact that where God guides you, He will provide for you. There have been times in my life when I was ready to jump off a bridge, so to speak, but then by the grace of God, and knowing this verse, I would drill down deeper inside of me. Somehow, God helped me every time to ... “Keep My Head.” It doesn’t help when people in leadership “Lose it!” Only when you trust God to “Keep Your Head” in all situations can you completely empty yourself on a regular basis of all the gifts God has given you. When you faithfully discharge those gifts to others, God instantly replenishes your tank. I’m telling you, in a mystical way there’s always more than enough. But, always ... “Keep Your Head!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I believe that one more time today, You will once again help me to “Keep My Head!” Amen

Trained For Righteousness

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

O-bservation:

In closing out the second of two letters to young Timothy, St. Paul, his mentor, told him that the only way to be "Trained For Righteousness" is with the Holy Scripture.

A-pplication:

It's important to note that when Paul wrote these words the Biblical Canon had not yet even been established. So more than anything, the Apostle was referring to Old Testament scripture. Really all they had to go on back then was portions of the Old Testament and mostly the Torah. Even so, Paul was all about the Word of God. Whatever they had of it at that time, Paul was convinced that the only way to grow in Righteousness was through reading and meditating upon the Word. Here's what you need to know! NOTHING HAS CHANGED! We now have the entire Bible, and it still the best way to be "Trained For Righteousness!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I long more than ever to live right everyday! Help me embrace Your word more than life itself! Amen

There Must Be Change

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”

O-bservation:

St. Paul tells all confessing Christians that if they truly have confessed Christ as their Savior, they must turn from their former acts of wickedness to follow Christ. In other words, “There Must Be Change!”

A-pplication:

I was raised in a small church community as a boy, and I can remember praying in a Sunday service for family members of people in our church who needed the Lord. This happened regularly. I also remember the day one of those we had prayed for came in the doors of the church, and everyone knew it. We’d pray all service that they would respond to the altar call and give their heart to Christ. When they did answer the altar call, our little church family would begin to praise the Lord with shouts of “Amen!” After the service, we would all gather around and bless them and pray over them. Something happened in those days that was remarkable. They were held accountable to live a changed life along with the confessing Christians in our church. No longer did they operate in their old ways because all things had become new! We all knew, as this verse mandates, that when you follow Christ, “There Must Be Change!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Today, I pray with all my heart for family members of those in our own church family here in Miami, Florida, who need the Lord. I pray that they would be compelled to change their minds and decide to follow Christ through our joint prayers. In so doing, I’m praying that they will truly change their old ways. Amen

Do Everything Out Of A Pure Heart

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Timothy 2:22
Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

O-bservation:

These are the instructions of St. Paul to his understudy Timothy. He said to him that his actions should be of one who runs away from evil and instead races towards righteousness and faith and love and peace, along with everyone else who is wanting to “Do Everything Out Of A Pure Heart.”

A-pplication:

You probably already know that when the Bible speaks of the heart, it’s talking about the place in your life where your decisions are made. That leads me to the question, “What’s in my heart?” Well, if evil lust is there, or impure motives are there, my heart will not be inclined toward the Lord. My only hope is that I have done my best to keep my heart pure through the study of God’s Word and my desire to serve the Lord. If that’s the case, there’s every reason to believe that my desires will be pure because my heart is pure. Don’t get me wrong, I’m just as susceptible to sin and wrongdoing as anyone else is, but it’s in my heart to do right. That’s the reason I encourage you this AM to “Do Everything Out Of A Pure Heart.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I don’t just ask this AM for You to help me keep my heart swept clean, but I also want You to help me fill it up with righteousness, faith, love, and peace. Amen

God’s WORD Is Free From Chains!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Timothy 2:9 For which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained.

O-bservation:

Paul wrote this letter to his young associate Timothy from a Roman prison. Paul was concerned that he was viewed as a common criminal. It is true that he was in prison because of what he believed and preached. Yet he was quick to proclaim this truth, “God’s WORD Is Free From Chains!”

A-pplication:

How many times have you wondered if your life mattered for the work of the Lord? I know there have been many times in my life where I questioned whether or not I was of any use to Jesus whatsoever. In this passage Paul is stuck in prison, and in such cases, the enemy works on one’s mind. The devil wants us to doubt our use for the Lord. Paul clung to his promotion of the WORD of God. He said he was in chains, but God’s WORD could never be chained. If you, like Paul, will make the WORD of God and the spreading of the WORD of God your priority, there may be times when you will be limited like Paul was. But it is in those times we can say, “God’s WORD Is Not Chained!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I’m grateful this AM that even when I’m facing limitations, Your WORD is not limited or chained in any way. With Your help, I will promote Your WORD as long as I have strength! Amen
