The INHERITANCE Blessing

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Peter 3:9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

O-bservation:

Here, St. Peter reminds us that we are “Followers Of Jesus” and the way to winning is the opposite of the way the world wins. We are to repay evil by blessing the one who perpetrates the evil.

A-pplication:

It’s easy to kick back when we’ve been kicked. That’s the natural human response. But the one who sowed the KICK will receive a kick back regardless. That’s the law of the harvest. However, Peter is saying to let someone or something else give the perpetrator the kick back. You instead sow blessing. Because when we sow blessing we reap an inheritance. An inheritance comes in time. Your blessing of someone else is now stored in a heavenly bank that in time will repay you with, “The INHERITANCE Blessing.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I studied this verse a long time ago and have been practicing I‎t most of my life. I’m believing for my “INHERITANCE Blessing,” soon. Amen

Serve Others … That’s What We Do

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Peter 4:10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

O-bservation:

St Peter was very direct with all "Followers Of Jesus" as it relates to using the gifts God has given us. He said any gift that we have been given must be used to Serve Others!

A-pplication:

The greatest thing we can possibly do with any gift God has given to us is to give it to others by way of serving them. Conversely, the worst thing we can do with a God-given gift is to squander it on our own selfish ambitions. There's something about moving gifts entrusted to us to others that keeps God's gifts coming our way. I'd rather be a conduit of God's blessings than a dam. I spoke with someone today who had just received a premier and unexpected job. He asked what I thought he should do? I said go to all the leaders in the company and ask them how you can serve them. The position is a gift from God. When he uses the gift to serve his fellow employees, more influence, respect, and clout will come his way. This AM, before you head out, remember to "Serve Others ... That's What We Do."

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I'm so thankful this AM that You showed us how to serve by leading the way. Amen

Do Good And Silence The Dummies

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Peter 2:15 For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.

O-bservation:

St. Peter instructed all believers that by doing good they would silence the crazy talk of not so intelligent people.

A-pplication:

Have you ever had a person say ridiculous things about you because of your faith in God? I'm talking about observations that border on the insane. I know I have, and my first inclination is to go after them. Not physically, but verbally or in debate style. I suppose that works sometimes and indeed there is a need for the defense of the Gospel, known as Apologetics, but Peter's instruction works the best. Just do good! Even Jesus said, "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven" (Mt. 5:16). So if Jesus laid down the principal originally, and Peter builds on the principal, then the only way to operate as "Followers Of Jesus" when spoken evil of is to "Do Good And Silence The Dummies."

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Help me stop talking when they start talking and DO GOOD instead. Amen

You’re Special

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

O-bservation:

People would have known in his day that the Apostle Peter had preached the first gospel message after Pentecost to the masses. He told the people that they were special. And so are we. In fact, “You’re Special.” That’s right. As followers of Jesus, you and I have been called out of darkness into God’s marvelous light.

A-pplication:

When Peter wrote this letter, he probably could have counted in his mind the number of people who would possibly, in time, read it. He was writing to Christians throughout Asia Minor who had been dispersed out of Jerusalem and other places where the persecution of Christians had been severe. But Peter could only have dreamed that his letter might be read by maybe thousands of people at most. He could never have dreamed that in time this letter would be read by hundreds of millions throughout the ages! As he was crucified upside down, he may have wondered to himself if the letters he had written during his life had been lost or discarded. But as I write to YOU, over two thousand years later, of the words he wrote here in 1 Peter 2:9, it is my task this AM to remind you as our brother Peter first said to us, “You’re Special!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Today I’m so grateful for the fact that Peter reminded me that I’m special in Your sight. I am overwhelmed with thanksgiving that you have called me out of the darkness of this world to live in YOUR LIGHT. That very fact makes me know “I’m Special” to you. Amen

Which Last Times?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Peter 1:20
He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.

O-bservation:

The Apostle Peter was like every other disciple of Jesus, save Judas, in this one area. Each one of them believed that Jesus would return in their time. In other words, each of them believed that he was living in the “Last Times” before Christ’s return. But when you fast forward to today, you’ve got to ask yourself, “Which Last Times” was he talking about?

A-pplication:

The other night, I was on the phone with my ninety-year-old mother, and I was telling her that my youngest son and his wife were expecting their third child. She was so happy, but then she made this comment: “I don’t know why young people want to bring children into a world that is so troubled.” I chuckled because I thought back more than fifty years ago, to being fourteen, when my mother and father told me that my mom was expecting their third child! I was shocked. Towards the end of mom’s pregnancy, my grandmother, mom’s mom, came to stay with us. One day she said to me, “Rich, I just don’t know what young people are thinking by bringing little children into this troubled world.” My little sisters are now in their late forties and have done incredible things for the kingdom of God. Every generation believes their generation is the last, and that it will all end on their watch. That’s a good thing, though. It keeps us on our toes, watching and waiting for the return of Jesus.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I’m aware this AM that I am a citizen of heaven and that this world is not my eternal home or dwelling place. No, I’m looking for that city whose builder and maker is God. And I won’t be home until I see Your face. Amen
