One More Thing About Love

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Corinthians 16:14 Do everything in love.

O-bservation:

St. Paul, in the closing words of his first letter to the Church at Corinth said, “Do everything in love.” There were directives and encouragements and warnings and a whole chapter on love in this letter, but at the close it was as if he was thinking, "I want to say One More Thing About Love.”

A-pplication:

You’re always going to have ignorant, uneducated, warring, psychopaths in this life who make it difficult on this side of heaven. You can’t get away from that in a fallen world. Yet Paul doesn’t acknowledge that when he addresses “Followers Of Jesus.” He doesn’t even say prepare to be abused or accused by such folks, he just says, “Do everything in love.” In other words, all you can control is you. You’re not ignorant, uneducated, warring, or psychopathic, NO! So “One More Thing About Love,” You are a “Jesus Follower.” That means that in our wildest moments of confusion based on circumstances, we choose LOVE.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I must admit, Love is a tough road. You know what I face. But it has served me well. With Your help, I will choose love. Amen

What I’d Like To Say About Love

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Corinthians 13:8a Love never fails.

O-bservation:

St. Paul wrote the 13th chapter of 1 Corinthians. You could write a book on these thirteen verses and it would be a 200 pager at least. The title of the book would have to be, “What I’d Like To Say About Love.” In this one line, he gives us the reason the world wants love so desperately. It’s because, “Love never fails.”

A-pplication:

The Greek Word for Love that is used throughout this 13th chapter is the word Agape. Agape love is a love that wills the highest good for the other person. It isn’t based upon what the other person can or cannot do back for the one showing Agape, because it is a love offered without any conditions attached. It never fails. Relationships, jobs, hopes, dreams, promises, opportunities, and money ALL fail—but LOVE Never Fails. When the mentions listed in the sentence above become larger personal desires than the mention of Love, I will guarantee you that you will be discouraged in time because failure will follow. However, if LOVE is your chief pursuit, no doubt you will find contentment. Because Love Never Fails and that’s “What I’d Like To Say About Love.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, You’ve already said to me this AM “Love Never Fails!” Thank You. Amen

My Desire

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Corinthians 12:31 Now eagerly desire the greater gifts.

O-bservation:

St. Paul had just finished an expose on the nine gifts of the Spirit, which are: Wisdom, Knowledge, Faith, Healing, Miracles, Prophecy, Discernment, Tongues, and the Interpretation Of Tongues. But then he said, “eagerly desire the greater gifts.”

A-pplication:

At some point one would ask, what could be greater than what we’ve just read about? But still, if you’re like me you think, “well if there is something greater than those nine gifts of the Spirit that would be ‘My Desire.’” In the next chapter Paul speaks about the fact that the greater gifts are Faith, Hope, and Love, and that the greatest of these is LOVE. Of course! Certainly by now you’ve run into people who are truly gifted, yet if they lack the gift of LOVE you walk away feeling empty. Love fuels all the gifts. Love is, “My Desire.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I want to be full of the powerful gifts that only You can give, yet my real desire is to be full of Your LOVE. Amen

SOME

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Corinthians 9:22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.

O-bservation:

Earlier in this chapter, in verse 19, Paul said “I have become a slave to everyone in order to win as many people to Christ as possible.” In this text he’s happy if he can just save “SOME.”

A-pplication:

I think it’s true that early on in life everyone reaches for the IDEAL. Later in life, most of us reach as hard as we can to attain the REAL. Paul was not as young as he used to be. However, you can sense that he’s more passionate than ever to reach people for Jesus. Perhaps Paul did more to establish the Christian faith than anyone in history, but as he’s winding down and running to finish the race strong, he said, “I’ll do anything possible just to save SOME.” The longer l live, the more I’m aware of the fact that I personally will never win the entire planet for Jesus. But I’m passionate to at least save “SOME.” Today, if you can’t win them all, don’t quit until you save “SOME.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Thank You for giving Your life to save Me. Help me give my life to save “SOME.” Amen

LET NOTHING MOVE YOU!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

O-bservation:

St. Paul casts all other issues of life aside and commands all believers everywhere to be given FULLY to Jesus. He says, with emphasis, "LET NOTHING MOVE YOU!"

A-pplication:

Most would call this an admonishment by St. Paul, but the more one reads the verse the more it appears to be a command. He commands all "Followers of Jesus" to stand firm, and most of all he says, "LET NOTHING MOVE YOU!" When everything we do is for the work of the Lord there is a giant payoff coming, because none of it is done in vain. Right away people want to qualify this verse. They say, well you have to have a regular job. You have to eat. You have a family to raise, and on and on they will make excuses. But the Lord is speaking to all of us this AM! "LET NOTHING MOVE YOU!" If we will put the work of the Lord at the top of our list, everything else will be added unto us! (Matt. 6:33) P-rayer: Dear Jesus, How I love this work You have placed before me. With Your help, I will let NOTHING MOVE ME away from this mission. Amen
