Stay Dressed, Be Ready and Keep The Lights On!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Luke 12:35
Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning.

O-bservation:

These are the words of Jesus to his disciples, as he spoke to them about always being ready to serve the Lord in any given situation. He told them to “Stay Dressed, Be Ready, and Keep The Lights On!”

A-pplication:

In the heat of combat, you don’t find soldiers taking showers and putting on fresh clothes. I’m sure Jesus wasn’t promoting smelly disciples here, but there was an urgency in this directive that a man or woman of God must always be prepared for the ongoing battle of spreading the “Good News” of Jesus around the world. Ready for service was another strong challenge that Jesus continued to promote while he walked this earth. Nothing is ever accomplished for the Kingdom of God separate from willing men and women who are ready to serve at any moment. Then I love what Jesus said, “Keep Your Lamps Burning.” For me, this means to stay in the light. It’s in those dark recesses of life where the enemy can easily slip in and gain a foothold if we’re not careful. So the words of Jesus for you and me this AM is, “Stay Dressed, Be Ready, and Keep The Lights On!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

My greatest joy is in accepting your challenge to me daily to, “Stay Dressed, Be Ready and Keep The Lights On!” Help me to be a good soldier today. Amen
