Stature And Favor

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Samuel 2:26

And the boy Samuel continued to grow in stature and in favor with the Lord and with people.

O-bservation:

Samuel was God’s gift to Hannah. She had promised the Lord that if He would remove her barrenness and give her a son, she would give him back to the Lord. It happened and she gave him to the priest Eli to raise. While under Eli’s care, Samuel grew in “Stature And Favor” with God and man.

A-pplication:

It’s amazing that Eli, the priest of Israel, couldn’t raise his own sons to fear the Lord but instead raised another family’s son to become one of the greatest priests and prophets in Israel’s history. By the time he was probably a teenager, the scripture says young Samuel had grown in “Stature (height physically and influence personally) and Favor” with God and people. Favor with God is most often a result of obedience and a consistent lifestyle that says, “I’m Dependable.” What becomes invaluable in time are those human qualities that are in short supply in society. I’ve learned through the course of my life that more important than fame and fortune, a person needs to grow in “Stature and Favor” with God and man.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I stopped growing in height quite some time ago, but may I never stop growing in influence and favor with You and my fellow man. Amen
